Under the Bonnet
- Next.js 16 and TypeScript 5 power a blazing-fast, pre-rendered site.
- Material UI v5 plus carefully-chosen typography keep the interface crisp and readable.
- Every rate is checked by hand against the Road User Charges (Rates) Regulations 2015, and a script turns them into lean JSON for the calculator.
- Automated tests with Jest and Playwright, and axe accessibility checks in light and dark mode, keep it reliable and accessible.
How to Use the Calculator
- Search for your vehicle, or pick your fuel type. Petrolhead? Diesel devotee? Even EV - we've got you.
- Pop in your vehicle's weight, axle count and average annual kilometres.
- Optionally, compare with another fuel to see the two side by side.
- Hit "Calculate" and bask in an animated breakdown dripping with tabular-numeral goodness.
- Copy a share link for your accountant, your mum, or your sceptical mate Dave.
